KARACHI, Nov 25: The College of Physicians Surgeons of Pakistan has urged the deputy chairman of the planning commission to release the approved amount in lump sum to the college to carry out the construction work of the CPSP’s regional offices in major cities, according to a press release.
In a letter to the vice-chairman, the CPSP said that the PC-I for the CPSP’s regional offices were approved in 1989 amounting to Rs 11.641million. This amount was revised and approved in 1994 to the tune of Rs 19.85million, out of which only 5.296 million were released over a period of 12 years in instalments.
The college had to surrender the sanctioned amount, because the same was being released in meagre instalments with very large intervals. So it was not feasible for the college management to carry out the proposed project because with the passage of time the construction cost due to inflation and other factors was constantly increasing.
The CPSP management has urged the planning commission that the rest of the approved amount may be released in a single tranche, so that the work could be carried out immediately.
