Three millowners sent to jail

GUJRANWALA, Nov 24: A local banking court on Saturday ordered to hand cuff three sugar mills’ owners and sent them to jail for not repaying bank loans.

The judge also ordered auction of the properties of six other defaulters.

Muhammad Nisar Ahmad, Chaudhry Saeed Ahmad and Shafiqur Rehman owed Rs5 million collectively to various bank branches. They did not pay back their loans despite repeated reminders.

The court also ordered that properties of six other defaulters be auctioned to recover the outstanding dues.

ARREST WARRANTS: An additional district and sessions judge on Saturday issued arrest warrants to DHQ Hospital’s woman medical officer and five ASIs for not appearing before the court.

MO Dr Rukhsana and five ASIs were summoned by court in connection with their witnesses in various cases, but they failed to turn up.

The court ordered that MO and ASIs be produced before the court on the next hearing.

APPROVAL: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Saturday gave an approval to award an Iqbaliat Ph.D degree to an Urdu department professor of the Government Islamia College, Gujranwala.

Meanwhile, office bearers of the Anjuman Iqbal Pakistan and Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association and all college teaching staff felicitated Prof Muhammad Asif Awan.

According to reports, it was the second degree on Iqbaliat Ph.D which was issued by the AIOU.
