HARIPUR, Nov 24: The agriculture-related agreements of WTO would enslave the developing nations economically and if poor nations failed to join hands against such discriminatory and anti-poor laws, the end result would be disastrous.
This was the crux of a one-day seminar titled the “Agreements of WTO and their impact on agriculture.”
The seminar was arranged by the Sungi Development Foundation here the other day.
The speakers underlined the need for concerted efforts by the poor nations against the WTO’s pacts concerning agriculture. They said that if the agreements were implemented, the multinational companies and developed nations would enjoy a hegemony on seeds and fertilizers’ supply.
