Exciting finish

KARACHI, Nov 23: Mohammad Zamir Khan CC upset Tapal CC by four runs in a nail-biting finish Friday, in the Sixth Danish Trophy Ramazan cricket tournament at the KGA ground.

Batting first, M.I. Khan CC were bundled out for only 123 runs in 18.2 overs with Akber Alam (29), Ishtiaq (24) and Mohammad Ali (20), among the runs. Shahid Iqbal using the new ball for good measure for Tapal CC, bagged 2/14. He was ably supported by Hanif-ur-Rehman 2/21, Tariq Hussain 2/22 and Mohammad Ali Naqvi 2/30.

Tapal CC cruising along comfortably at 63 for 1, saw their wickets fall like nine pins after Mubbashir (37) and Tariq Hassan (30), were dismissed in quick succession. Although Shahid Iqbal weighed in with 20 runs, Tapal CC could only reach 119 for 9 in their 20 stipulated overs to lose the match by four runs.

Mohammad Ali 2/19 and Mansoor 2/27 bowled well for the winners.

Saturday’s fixture: KGA Gymkhana v Young Students at 1-30 p.m.
