Central Police, M.Z. Khan triumph

KARACHI, Nov 23: Central Police registered a 59-run triumph over Lahore Mills Store in the Third Nazimabad Trophy League cricket tournament played Friday at the Nazimabad Sports ground.

With Irfan Ali Khan slamming 77 runs and ably assisted by Basit Ali Jr. 40 and Saeed Shaikh 26, Central Police did well in reaching 179 for 5 in their 20 allotted overs. Atta ur Rehman bagged 2/28 and Wajid Ali 2/44.

Lahore Mills Store in reply were skittled out for 124 runs. Ahmed Shafi Ranjha (32) and M. Salman (22) were among the runs as Basit Ali Jr 5/18 and Farrukh Zahid 4/19 ran amok.

In another encounter played a day earlier, Mohammad Zamir Khan XI got the better of Ittehad CC by 39 runs.

M.Z. Khan CC raced to 204 for 5 in 20 overs through entertaining knocks by Umair Ahmed (73 n.o.), Azher Ali (55), and Akber Alam (21).

Abdul Wahab 2/40 and Ubaid 2/20 shared wickets.

Ittehad CC in reply could only reach 165 for 9 in their allotted overs. Asif scored (46), Mansoor (40), and Hilal (20). Azher Ali 2/20, Tabish and Azher Ali 2/30 each and Waqas Jawaid 2/35 shared the wickets.
