Asif assets case hearing adjourned

ISLAMABAD, Nov 23: The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench, on Friday modified the stay order it had granted against the filing of a third supplementary reference against Asif Zardari on charges of possessing assets beyond his known source of income.

Justice Ali Nawaz Chowhan adjourned the case on the request of Raja Shafqat Abbasi as senior advocate Raja Anwar was not available.

The adjournment request was opposed by Raja Bashir, Prosecutor-General, Accountability, who stated that under the recent ruling of the Supreme Court, the accountability court at Attock was required to complete hearing of the assets case within three months.

The PGA requested LHC to allow recording of evidence. The court granted the request, but directed that no order would be passed.

Asif Zardari had challenged the filing of the third supplementary reference agianst him in assets case, which has been pending for the last two years.

The case will now be taken up on Nov 29.
