HYDERABAD, Nov 23: The Internet centre at the Allama I.I. Kazi central library, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, will start functioning in a few days for providing Internet facilities to the teachers and the students.

The vice chancellor of the university Mazharul Haq Siddiqui on Thursday visited the library and inquired about the progress of the on-going work for setting up the Internet centre.

The director of Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science Prof Asif Ali Kazi and the chief librarian Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh briefed the VC about the progress of the work and said that the centre would be made functional in next few days.

The VC also visited the on-going training workshop on computer and management course at the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science.

About 30 teachers and administrative officials are attending the workshop.

LAW EDUCATION: The vice chancellor, University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui has said that the university will maintain a close liaison with the affiliated law colleges.

He was talking in a meeting with the principals of the affiliated law colleges here on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by Prof Ferozuddin Kazi, registrar, University of Sindh, Ahmed Ali Shaikh, dean, faculty of law, Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, principal of Jinnah Law College Hyderabad, Munir Ahmed Rahujo, principal of Pir Illahi Bux Law College Dadu, Barrister Mohammad Jamil Chaudhry, principal of Quaid Azam Law College Nawabshah, Prof Ali Murtaza Dharejo, controller of examinations, and other concerned officials.

The VC stressed upon the affiliated colleges to make all out efforts for improving the quality of higher education and expressed the hope that through joint efforts this goal could be achieved.

The meeting discussed issues relating to law education, admissions to and examinations in the affiliated law colleges.

It also decided to hold a seminar on the improvement of quality of education with special reference to law education and assigned the responsibility of making arrangements of the seminar to the dean, faculty of law, .

The meeting discussed the schedule of admissions and examinations of the law colleges and decided that the admission in LLB part-I 2001- 2002 will commence from December 22.

The meeting authorized the dean, faculty of law, for preparing LLB examination schedule in consultation with the principals of other affiliated law colleges.
