HYDERABAD, Nov 23: The secondary school teachers of Hyderabad district on Friday boycotted classes on the call of Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA) to protest against the orders of the secretary education asking the B.Ed and M.Ed degree holding teachers to appear in a test for advance increment.

Protest meetings were also held in Government High School Society, Noor Mohammad High School, and Mirza Qaleech Baig Girls and Boys Higher Secondary School to condemn the proposed test.

The GSTA leaders Jan Mohammad I. Parhiar, Ashraf bin Mohammad, Zamir Khan and others visited several schools and spoke at the protest meetings.

They said that the orders of the secretary education to conduct the test of B.Ed and M.Ed degree holders, was not only illegal but also against the education policy.

They said that no teachers will sit in the test and also announced boycott of classes on Saturday.

They added that a procession will be taken out from Government High School Society on Saturday which will march to the Hyderabad press club to record protest against the forced test.

HUNGER STRIKE: About two dozen activists of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz continued their token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad press club here on the fourth consecutive day on Friday.

They were protesting against the imprisonment of their party chief Basheer Khan Qureshi, his deputy Dr Niaz Kalani, JSSF president Kehar Ansari and other leaders, proposed transfer of 17 Dehs of Ghotki district to Punjab, acute water shortage in Sindh hitting wheat cultivation, influx of Afghan refugees and other outsides into the province, and construction of greater Thal canal, and other problems confronting Sindh.
