KARACHI: Govt urged to call religious parties’ meeting

KARACHI, Nov 23: A protest demonstration was held by the Pakistan-Afghanistan Defence Council (PADC) in Karachi on Friday

It urged the government to convene a meeting of all religio- political parties to review its Afghan policy.

The leaders addressing the demonstrators claimed that situation after the fall of Afghan capital Kabul had proved that their point of view about the issue was “right”.

They vowed to continue their struggle against US influence in Afghanistan and condemned the arrest of Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Maulana Fazalur Rehman, Maulana Samiul Haque and Liaquat Baloch.

Hafiz Hussain Ahmed said that America after using Pakistan for its designs had left the country isolated in the world and, due to the wrong Afghan policy, the Indian-influenced Northern Alliance had taken over Kabul.

He demanded immediate release of the arrested leaders.

Amir JI Karachi, Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui, said the US had broken its promises about keeping the operation limited and disallowing the Northern Alliance entry into Kabul.

He said the US-led military operation was not against terrorism and it was aimed at destroying the Islamic State of Afghanistan.

Maulana Abdul Karim Abid said that America and the Jews wanted to occupy the resources of Central Asia and to achieve this objective they had taken control of various parts of Afghanistan.

He held the leaders of Muslim countries responsible for the prevailing situation in Afghanistan.

He said that the recent developments in Afghanistan had put the borders of Pakistan in a vulnerable position and the government now would have to increase its defence budget.

Others who spoke on the occasion were Engineer Ilyas Zubair,Maulana Arshad Zahid Wazirabadi, Usman Yar Khan, Qari Zameer Akhter Mansoori, Nassemuddin, Tariq Shahdab and Nawaz Nudni.—PPI
