Japan FM due today

TOKYO, Nov 22: Foreign Minister Makiko Tanaka left for Pakistan on Thursday to offer extra Japanese aid in recognition of the pivotal role played by Islamabad in the US-led war against terrorism.

She told reporters before her departure that “the situation in Afghanistan is changing rapidly; I want to gain information about the refugee situation and exchange views frankly with officials”.

Tanaka is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad late on Friday after stops in Singapore and Dubai. She will meet Pakistan Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar on Saturday and President Pervez Musharraf on Monday.—AFP
