Qublai slams nine goals including double hat trick

LAHORE, Nov 22: Shah Qublai Alam scored nine goals, including a double hat trick to take Lahore Chatkhara Blacks to a comfortable win over Guard Rice by nine goals to three-and-a-half (9 - 3 1/2) at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground on Thursday.
The other match of the tournament was closely fought in which Mayfair beat Lahore Chatkhara Whites 4-3.
Both the teams were tied at 3-3 at end of the stipulated four chukkers.
During the extended period of the fifth chukker, Ahmad Ali Tiwana scored the decisive goal to give Mayfair a hard-earned win.
Shah Qublai Alam was on a goal-scoring spree as he struck after regular intervals throughout the match to carve out a convincing win for Lahore Chatkhara Blacks against Guard Rice.
The latter team enjoyed half-a-goal’s advantage on the handicap and could only score three goals during play.
Qublai completed his first hat-trick in the very first chukker as he scored three goals in succession for Lahore Chatkhara Blacks. His first and second goals were on 60 yards penalty-hits.
Qublai converted a 40 yards penalty-hit to complete the feat. For the Guard Rice side, Captain Azhar Ali scored his first of the two goals during the first chukker and so Lahore Chatkhara Blacks earned a lead of three goals to one-and-a-half goal (3 - 1 1/2).
All the three goals of the second chukker were put in by Qublai on field efforts which earned him the second hat-trick. Lahore Chatkhara Blacks were at that stage leading by six goals to one-and-a-half (6 - 1 1/2).
At start of the third chukker, Shehzad Aziz score a field goal to reduce the margin, but Qublai also crowned another field goal to raise his and the team’s tally to seven goals. Soon afterwards, Ali Riaz struck. Qublai scored his eighth goal on a 60 yards penalty-hit which enhanced Lahore Chatkhara Blacks’ lead to nine goals to one-and-a-half (9 - 2 1/2).
Captain Azhar Ali put in the only goal of the fourth chukker, converting a 30 yards penalty-hit. It was Azhar’s second and Guard Rice side’s third goal.

For the losing team, Shah Shamyl Alam struck twice while Zain Khakwani scored one goal. All the goals of this match were scored on field efforts.
Zain Khakwani opened the scoring for Lahore Chatkhara Blacks. However, Malik Asif Yar Tiwana put in his first goal to bring Mayfair on even keel (1-1).
Ahmad Ali Tiwana scored his first goal, which was the only goal of the second chukker.
Malik Asif Yar Tiwana scored the only goal of the third chukker to increase the Mayfair side’s lead to 3-1.
Shah Shamyl Alam struck twice during the fourth chukker to bring Lahore Chatkhara Whites at par (3-3) with the Mayfair side.
The poles were widened during the fifth chukker to decide the match. Ahmad Ali Tiwana scored the all-important goal to separate the two teams.
