KARACHI: Concern over houbara hunting

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 22: The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), expressing concern over the mass-scale poaching of houbara bustard being carried out in certain areas, has urged the government to stop illegal activities of the poachers.

The WWF said a large hunting party has set up a houbara bustard hunting camp in Rajanpur district, which had been declared a no-hunt area by the federal government and it had been put on the negative list for houbara hunting.

It said the federal government, keeping in view the conservation of the houbara bustard, a migratory bird species, has banned its hunting in various areas, including Dera Ghazi Khan division, Runn of Kutch, Nag Valley in Kharan District and Jhal Magsi to provide some relief to the dwindling houbara population.
