KARACHI, Nov 21: The special Anti-narcotics court, headed by Judge Ali Nawaz Pirzada, convicted four drug traffickers, including three Nigerians, and sentenced them to suffer different terms of rigorous imprisonment.

Shoaib Ahmed, arrested on March 22 with 130 grams charas by the Mominabad police, was sentenced to a 15- month term and a fine of Rs5,000. He will undergo an additional three-month term in case of default on the payment.

The judge sentenced Louis Onyenas and Mephew Ikechukwo, both Nigerians, to suffer rigorous imprisonment for six years and pay a fine of Rs50,000 each. The defaulter on the payment will have to undergo an additional one-year term, the judge further ordered.

The two drug traffickers, who had concealed the heroin in their rectums, were arrested on May 16 by the Anti-narcotics Force. They were sent to the Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre where Onyenas excreted 90 capsules, containing 1,065 grams heroin, and Ikechukwo 66 capsules, containing 1,062 grams heroin.

The third Nigerian, Osabour, was sentenced to suffer rigorous imprisonment for seven years and a fine of Rs50,000. He was arrested on February 25 by the ANF officials. He was found carrying 1,642 grams heroin, stuffed in 91 capsules and concealed in his rectum.

The drug trafficker will have to undergo an additional one-year term in case of default on the payment.
