KARACHI: SHC put off hearing in Zardari’s bail plea
KARACHI, Nov. 21: A division bench of Sindh High Court on Wednesday put off hearing of a bail application filed by a Hakim Ali Zardari regarding purchase of a valuable property in France which was not declared in his list of assets and liabilities submitted before the Election Commission.
The bench, comprising Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice S Ali Aslam Jaffery adjourned the hearing as applicant’s counsel sought time. The court will take up this matter on the next date of hearing.
The accused moved the SHC as a reference is pending trial in Accountability Court (AC-V) Karachi.
According to prosecution, Hakim Zardari purchased a luxurious house in France but did not declare this property in his assets and liabilities under section 7(d) of Representative of People Act 1976 before Election Commission as he was elected as MNA twice during elections held in 1988 and 1993.
Another bench of SHC comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali granted bail to two accused/applicant Ayub and Wazeer.
The applicants were facing trial in a dacoity case of Mirpur Burro.
According to the prosecution, they barged into house of one Anwar to commit dacoity and injured complainant Anwar and Ghulam Nabi.
Nooruddin Sarkai, appearing for the accused raised the plea of statutory delay and said they were in the jail for the last 18 months.
The bench after hearing initial arguments admitted the accused to bail against a sum of Rs100,000.
REMANDED: Justice Shabbir Ahmed of Sindh High Court, on Wednesday remanded an activist Qasim Ali to police for his alleged involvement in sectarian killings.—PPI/APP
