PESHAWAR, Nov 19: American war planes on Monday pounded the military base of Afghan Jihadi leader Abdur Rab Rasool Seyaf in the Nangarhar province near Pakistan’s border.
At least, 12 people were killed in the intense bombardment and more than 15 others wounded.
Official sources at the Torkham border said that the US jets had made three sorties over Guroko and Shamsha areas inside Afghanistan.
They said the US planes targeted the Aqsa military base of Ittehad-i-Islami Afghanistan leader Prof Seyaf situated on the Torkham-Jalalabad highway.
The planes bombed Guroko area where smugglers stored transit trade goods.
One of the wounded, Shah Wali, was brought to Peshawar in an Edhi ambulance and admitted to the Hayatabad Medical Complex. Another victim, 25-year-old Jamal, died on way to hospital.
AFP adds: Another 30 people were killed in the US bombing raids in the Shamsha area, 8km from the Afghan-Pakistan border on Sunday, the Afghan Islamic Press news agency said.
