KARACHI: Security steps to ensure peace

KARACHI, Nov 19: Security has been strengthened in the entire province during Ramazan and police commandos have been deployed at important places — shopping centres, mosques and Imambargahs.

This was stated by the Inspector-General of Police, Sindh, Syed Kamal Shah, while presiding over a meeting of senior police officers.

It said the police had been placed on alert and the holidays of police personnel cancelled.

The IG directed the senior police officers to take steps against saboteurs.

He also asked the SPs and DSPs to pay surprise visits to sensitive areas to review the security arrangements and monitor the performance of the police personnel deployed there.

Syed Kamal Shah said the area SHO would be responsible in case of any disturbance in their respective areas.

He said security measures had also been strengthened in other parts of the province and that police patrolling had also been enhanced.

The IG instructed that there should be snap-checking of vehicles. However, he directed, the law-abiding citizens should not be harassed.

He said that deployment of additional police force at the police station had been ensured.

At important check-posts in the interior of Sindh, wireless sets have been provided to policemen for prompt contact.—APP
