Sunday service resumes in Bahawalpur church

By Our Correspondent

BAHAWALPUR, Nov 18: The Sunday service has resumed in the main prayer hall of St Dominican Church after the suspension of three weeks.

Father Rocus Pitras told Dawn on Sunday that members of both the communities — Protestant and Catholic — jointly offered Sunday’s service in the renovated church hall.

The prayer hall was closed after the massacre of 15 worshippers on Oct 28. On Thursday, the hall was washed for Sunday prayers.

Later, a reception was arranged to make the re-opening of the church hall for regular prayers.

Speaking on the occasion, Father Rocus Pitras, Father Zafar (Faisalabad), United Minority Organization president Nauras and former MPA Lala Meharlal Bheel demanded that the government should arrest the killers of 15 Christians immediately.

PRICE-HIKE: With the advent of Ramazan, local commission agents of the sabzi mandi have arbitrarily increased the prices of potatoes and onions.

The increase is in contrast to the assurances held out by the local administration that it would ask traders not to enhance the rates of essential commodities.
