German govt to support Wapda’s Vision-2025

FAISALABAD, Nov 18: The German government has promised full support to Wapda in implementing its Vision-2025 programme on generating new water and power resources.

Addressing a gathering at the Wapda Engineering Academy here on Sunday, Training Consultant Masood Arain said the Pakistan-German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) had been supporting the Wapda’s integrated training programme for the last 15 years, extending funds worth DM30 million.

The GTZ, he said, had also provided simulators, I & C lab, power distribution trainer, CBT, cord training material, Nus video training material, electrical & mechanical workshops, HV lab and labs for water wing.

In addition to it, the GTZ also sponsored courses conducted at the engineering academy for IPPs, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission and for Technical Education Project of the Punjab government.

He said the laboratories of the academy had been equipped with latest computers and other necessary gadgets to conduct sophisticated experiments. He told the audience that a lab had also been established where test facilities in ‘geo-technical’ and ‘concrete’ were available.

He said the WEA was the only academy in Pakistan and Muslim world which could provide combination of theory and on-job training using audio-visual aids.

He said that the academy was fully capable of conducting different courses for the Vision-2025 while the GTZ would also continue its assistance to WEA in materializing this objective.—APP
