MERGER OPPOSED: The chief of All Pakistan Technical Drawing Establishment Association Hyderabad, Hafiz Matloob Ahmed Chishti has severely criticized the proposed merger of public health engineering department with the local bodies department.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, he said the public health engineering department was responsible for water supply and drainage schemes in the province and since 1973 when it was separated from PWD and made autonomous, it had initiated 1,285 water supply and 914 drainage schemes in different parts of the province.
He said the proposal to merge it with the local bodies department had created great resentment among the workers.
He said under new arrangements, the engineers of this department in grade-18 and 19 will have to work under grade-17 officer of the local bodies department which was unjustified.
He appealed to the president to stop the merger which he termed absolutely illogical and unnatural.
