KARACHI: Women’s rights emphasized

KARACHI, Nov 18: Women’s rights are an integral part of human rights, but, unfortunately women have been denied of their rights in different walks of life,” said Viqarun Nisa Hashmi, a research scholar in human rights while speaking at a seminar on Saturday.

She said that in the global efforts to give women their due status, the international instruments and constitutional provisions are provided to ensure equality between the genders on unanimous globally accepted standards.

However, no international effort can ever be successful until and unless these standards are incorporated in domestic legislation and their implementation is ensured, she emphasised.

She said although the existence of human rights is no longer debated, the nature and scope of these rights remain the subject of the dispute.—APP
