KARACHI: City govt announces Jauhar award

KARACHI, Nov 17: Nazim Karachi Naimatullah Khan has announced the institution of “Maulana Mohammed Ali Jauhar City Government Literacy Award” in recognition of the services of the Maulana.

This award will be presented for best performance in the field of education to four persons every year.

Speaking at an inter-school elocution contest held at Khaliq Dina Hall, the Nazim said Pakistan had come into being as a result of immemorable services of elders and we should not forget their services.

Naimatullah said the services of Maulana Mohammed Ali Jauhar would continue to serve as a role model for the Muslims of the sub- continent.

The Nazim said that the award would be given every year to a teacher, a student, a female student in the field of education and to a person rendering best service towards promotion of literacy in the city.

He said any person who wish to win this award will have to equip the highest number of persons with education. He said our effort will be to ensure that this award distribution is held in Khaliq Dina Hall.

Naimatullah Khan informed that at present 600 schools are functioning under the City Government where 6,000 teachers are imparting education to over 15,000 students.

“If they all strive together, the literacy target in Karachi can certainly be achieved”, the Nazims said.—APP
