Ramazan begins today

PESHAWAR, Nov 16: The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee on Friday announced that the Ramazan moon had been sighted and the first of Ramazan would fall on Saturday.

The chairman of the committee, Maulana Mufti Muneebur Rehman, made the announcement on the basis of evidence reported by many individuals about the sighting of the Ramazan moon in different parts of the NWFP and Punjab.

However, the Afghans, living in various refugee camps and different localities of the provincial capital, started fasting on Friday in line with the tradition of their country where people followed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in this regard.
