LAHORE, Nov 16 Fifty-three players were retained in the national junior pool after holding three-day trials at the National Hockey Stadium from Tuesday to Thursday.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation announced the names of the players on Friday who have been retained in the pool. In all, 105 probables appeared in the three-day trials. A Pakistan team would be finalised from these selected players which will take part in the Junior World Cup qualifying round-2004.
Following have been retained in the national junior pool:
Goalkeepers: Mohammad Kashif, Mohammad Bilal (Punjab), Karimullah (NWFP), Mohammad Bilal, Nauman Ahmad (Sindh).
Right-full-backs: Adnan Rashid (Sindh), Amar Raza (Sindh), Kashif Ali (Punjab), Mohammad Imran Manzoor (Punjab) and Zia-ur- Rehman (NWFP).
Left-full-backs: Majid Husain (Punjab), Muhammad Tahir (NWFP), Mohammad Hanif (Sindh).
Right-halves: Wasif Khan (Sindh), Mohammad Akhtar (Punjab), Mohammad Ijaz (Punjab), Sajjad Husain (NWFP) and Mohammad Yousaf (Balochistan).
Centre-halves: Bilal Saeed (Punjab), Khurram Shahzad (Balochistan), Junaid Iqbal (Sindh), Irshad Husain (Punjab), Mohammad Abbas (Punjab).
