World Bank to back educational reforms

ISLAMABAD, Nov 16: The World Bank has decided to support various educational reform programmes both in formal and non-formal education sector.

The support will be offered for specifically district-based programmes with capacity building focus on planning, budgeting and monitoring for quality and innovative programmes for restructuring institutional arrangements up to higher secondary level.

This was stated by the visiting Vice President of World Bank for South Asian Region, Ms Meiko Nishimizu, during a meeting with Federal Education Minister Zobaida Jalal here on Thursday. In the meeting, Ms Jalal gave a presentation to Ms Mieko on Education Sectoral Reforms (ESR) Action Plan 2000-2004.

Federal Minister for Finance Shoukat Aziz, NWFP Minister for Education and Punjab Minister for Social Welfare also attended the meeting.
