PSB asked to implement sports policy

KARACHI, Nov 15: Ministry of sports Thursday formally asked the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) to implement the national sports policy, a PSB official, said.

The presidents, secretaries and the treasurers of the sports federations who have completed their four-year tenures twice, will not be allowed to contest in the elections.

The director general of the PSB, Brig Saulat Abbas, who chaired a meeting attended by the provincial sports boards in Islamabad, said the programme for the elections from clubs to national level had been finalized.

According to the policy, clubs must hold elections by Dec 15, tehsils (Jan 15), districts (Feb 15), provincial bodies (March 15), national federations (April 15), provincial sports boards (May 15) and Pakistan Olympic Association (June 15).

The PSB official said, in case the clubs and tehsils fail to hold polls before the deadlines, sports officers will supervise the elections seven days after the fixed dates.

Similarly, provincial sports boards and the PSB will be responsible for holding the elections of provincial bodies and the national federations, seven days after the given election dates.
