Millat first to qualify for final
LAHORE, Nov 15: Millat Tractors was the first to enter into final of the Ghulam Mohammad Memorial Polo Tournament, defeating LG by six-and-a-half goals to four (6 1/2-4) in a match at the Lahore Polo Club ground Thursday.
In another match of the tournament, Power Soft beat Amin & Company by seven goals to five-and-a-half (7-5 1/2) to qualify for the subsidiary final.
Millat Tractors had an advantage of half-a-goal on handicap and the team put in six goals during play. Millat Tractors completely dominated the first chukker of the match against LG by scoring all the three field goals through Agha Murtaza, Malik Atif Yar Tiwana and Raja Amer.
Interestingly, the second chukker was completely dominated by the LG team as all the three field goals were scored by its players. Rashid Ali Baig, Sufi Mohammad Haris and Malik Azam Hayat Noon were the scorers.
Only goal of the third chukker was scored by Malik Atif Yar Tiwana on a spot penalty near the goalpost. This was Atif’s second and Millat Tractors’ fourth goal.
All goals of the fourth chukker were also scored on field efforts. Shahid Iqbal scored his only goal at beginning of the fourth chukker. Azam Noon scored his second and LG’s fourth goal. Soon afterwards, Agha Murtaza scored his second and Millat Tractors’ sixth goal which confirmed this team’s win.

Amin & Company enjoyed two-and-a-half goals’advantage on handicap and it could score three goals during play. For the winning PowerSoft side, Kamran Nooruddin struck thrice while Faaiz Rahim Khan and Umer Sadik scored two goals, each.
Asad Tiwana scored two and Ahmad Nawaz one goal for the losing Amin & Company team.
