Proposals for Reni canal project under study: minister

SUKKUR, Nov 15: Proposals for the construction of Reni canal is under consideration and a top priority is being given to the project.
Sindh Irrigation Minister Syed Ali Mir Shah said this, while speaking to Ghotki district Nazim Sardar Ali Gohar Khan Maher and local farmers at a meeting, held at the Maher House Khangarh here on Wednesday evening.
The Nazim apprised him of the irrigation water situation in the area, and suggested that the district’s salty water belt might be provided with more than sweet water areas of the district.
Matters, including water position in Mahi Wah and Masoo Wah, remodelling of RD-60, extension of canals from the Ghotki Feeder and other development works in Guddu Barrage Command, were also discussed.
Sukkur district Nazim Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, irrigation officials and elected representatives also attended the meeting.
MEDICAL CAMP:Sukkur district Nazim Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that the district government is making efforts to provide health facilities to the people, particularly the backward areas.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a free medical camp, organized by the district health department, at Rural Health Centre, Trighatti, some 50km from here, he lauded the efforts of the health department for organizing the camp.
He announced that a room would be built for the X-ray plant of the hospital.
Specialists in various fields, including ENT, eye, general surgery, psychiatry and skin, examined the patients and provided them with free treatment.
LANDLORD KILLED: Landlord Naseer Khan Khoso was killed and his one relative injured in an attack on his house by armed men in a village in Ghotki on Thursday.
According to area police sources, the assailants came from Kashmor and opened indiscriminate fire at the landlords’ house, killing him on the spot and wounding his relative, named as Ramzan Khoso.
The sources said the villagers had caught a fleeing attacker, identified as Haji Khan Khoso, with his shotgun and handed him over to police.
The attack was said to be the result of a matrimonial dispute.
