KARACHI, Nov 15: A two-day exhibition of photographs and cartoons by press photographers and cartoonists opened at the Karachi Press Club on Thursday.
The exhibition features the works of over 30 photographers and cartoonists working in different dailies and publications.
The vice-chairman of the Arts Council of Pakistan, S.H. Hashmi, inaugurated the exhibition. He stressed the need for holding this exhibition every year. He suggested that two prizes be given to the best photographer and the best cartoonist.
He observed that if good equipment was given to the Pakistani photographers they could earn fame all over the world.
The KPC secretary, Najeeb Ahmed, said that the exhibition at the KPC was first of its kind. He added that the KPC would hold a bigger exhibition next year.
The photographers whose works have been put on display include Mohamamd Farooq (The News), Hyder Abbas Jafri (Star), Rana Tahir (Khabrein), Raza Hyder (Nawa-i-Waqt), Iftikhar Ahmed (Daily News), Iftikhar Ahmed (Express), Mujeebur Rehman (Dawn), Sohail Rafiq (Jang), Shareeful Hassan (Public News), Shoaib Ahmed (Jang), Anis Hamdani (Dawn), M. Farooq (AP), Nazeeruddin (The Nation), Saeed Qureshi (Amn), Javed Jeaja, Aftab Baig (Jang), Naeemul Haq, Akhtar Soomro and Rizwan Tabbasum.
The cartoonists taking part in the exhibition include Feica, Babar, Munawar Abro and Paki.
The exhibition will remain open for the general public till Friday, from 10am to 10pm.—APP
