Fatyana gets 5 years in fraud case

LAHORE, Nov 14: An accountability court on Wednesday awarded five-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs1 million on former education minister Riaz Fatyana for fraud. In case of default, he will have to undergo another two-year RI.

The reference was filed on June 14, 2001, and charge framed on June 25, 2001.

The case was referred to the Anti-Corruption Establishment for inquiry. The investigation revealed that Fatyana got allotted a one-kanal plot in the name of one Manzoor Husain in 1989. After three months, he got the same plot reallotted in his name at the reserve price of Rs96,000.
