ISLAMABAD, Nov 14: The visiting World Bank vice-president for South Asian Region Mieko Nishimizu held a detailed meeting with the senior officials of the ministry of finance here on Wednesday on reforms relating to improving governance and financial discipline.
Informed sources said secretary-general ministry of finance Moeen Afzal briefed Ms Nishimizu about the reform process the present government had undertaken immediately after taking over in October 1999.
He said that reforms relating to improving governance had been taken and its initial results were encouraging. In this regard, he said that the National Reconstruction Bureau had done a lot of work. He said that the local bodies polls had already been held across the country and new local governments set up.
