LAHORE: Diabetics family mela

Published November 15, 2001

LAHORE, Nov 14: The Diabetic’s Institute Pakistan (DIP) organized a ‘diabetics family mela’ at Racecourse Park on Wednesday in connection with the World Diabetics Day.

Stalls were established by pharmaceutical companies and manufacturers of sugar-free sweets and other eatables to give people awareness about diabetes.

Visitors also got their blood-sugar and cholesterol level checked up free of cost. The diabetes specialists also informed the visitors about the prevention of diabetes and ‘healthy’ dietary habits.

Speaking on the occasion, DIP’s Dr Naeem Ahmad Azad stressed the need for education and awareness about the disease and its prevention methods. He said people should change their life-styles, eat balanced diet and exercise regularly.

The organizers had also arranged musical performances and different games for children. The winners of different competitions were given prizes. —Reporter
