KARACHI: Kabul situation termed threat to Pakistan

KARACHI, Nov 14: Central leaders of Jamaat-i-Islami have said the change of power in Kabul will not only adversely affect Kashmir cause but it will also pose a serious threat to stability and integrity of Pakistan.

Addressing a Defence of Islam Conference, organized by the Islami Jamiat Talaba, here on Wednesday, JI Naib Ameer Liaquat Baloch criticized the government’s pro-US policies and warned that it would have to face the consequences for destabilizing the Taliban and establishment of a pro-Indian government in Kabul.

“Now the government is urging the US for deploying UN peace forces consisting of Muslims in Kabul to keep the minority Northern Alliance away from power in Afghanistan, while the fact is that the regime provided a chance to the NA by supporting the war against the Taliban,” he contended.

He said the so-called war against terror was on the one hand aimed at crushing the jihadis, while on the other, at dominating the oil resources of the Central Asian states.

“The US want to destroy Pakistan’s nuclear and missile programme, besides depriving the country of its strategic importance,” he alleged.

The JI leader announced to hold a countrywide protest demonstrations on Nov 16 against the policies of the government and arrest of their leaders and workers.—PPI
