Multan win Quaid Trophy G-II crown

KARACHI, Nov 13: Off-spinner Naeem Iqbal claimed a remarkable match haul of nine for 27 as Multan became the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-II cricket champions at Chenab College Ground in Jhang Tuesday.

According to details available, Multan defeated Dadu by 10 wickets on the second day of the three-day final after being just 15 for victory. After taking a first innings lead of 109 runs, Multan restricted Dadu to 123 in their second innings. Naeem, who captured three for nine in Dadu’s first innings, bowled superbly to take six for 18 in 10 overs.

Earlier, Multan lost the remaining seven wickets for 76 runs after resuming at 172 for three. Ameeruddin, who represented Customs in first-class cricket, claimed four for 22 with his off-spinners.

However, Dadu are guaranteed a berth in next season’s (2002-03) Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-I championship alongwith Multan.
