MULTAN, Nov 13: Rowdyism and later boycott of the syndicate meeting of the Bahauddin Zakariya University on Saturday last was an outcome of the authoritative attitude of a civil bureaucrat.

According to BZU’s public relations officer Khursheed Khan, the behaviour of provincial additional finance secretary Shafqat Husain Ranjha was not suitable to the decorum of the forum of university syndicate as he was trying to dictate his terms. At some points, his attitude towards the vice-chancellor was even objectionable, Mr Khan said.

He said when Prof Humayoon Pervez reminded the secretary that he should be respectable to the chair, he became infuriated and used ‘unethical’ language against the professor. When the situation became worse, the syndicate member from judiciary retired to the adjacent VC’s office and condemned the secretary’s attitude.

The syndicate member from judiciary was not available to comment.
