Wheat area likely to decline

By Our Correspondent

OKARA, Nov 13: The area under wheat crop in the district is likely to decline this year by 10 to 15 per cent.

The reduction is resulting from shortage of irrigation water and a late sugarcane harvest.

Kissan Board president Malik Naseer Ahmad Wattoo, Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, union council Nazim Syed Zainul Abideen and Ravi Farmers’ Association’s Mehr Amir Ali have requested the government to intervene now to save the situation.

ACCIDENT: A van driver died near Renala Khurd by-pass in a head-on collision with a speeding truck.

Iftikhar Ahmad was driving the Okara-bound van (LXP-7573) from Mandi Ahmadabad when it collided with the truck (GLT-4932). He died while being taken to a hospital. He is survived by four children.
