HYDERABAD, Nov 13: Sindh University vice chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui has said that the universities should interact with community for the fulfilment of latter’s needs and added that the university-industry interaction will open the doors for the development of the country.
He was speaking at the inaugural session of one-day seminar on university-industry interaction organized by the Centre of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry (CEAC) of SU here on Tuesday.
He said that the collaboration between the educational institutions and industry will go a long way in the increase of industrial production.
He said that the linkages between the university and industry must be developed for boosting the industrial production and it will also provide jobs to skilled graduates and benefit the society.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mohammad Iqbal Bhangar, director of the CEAC, said that such seminars were matter of routine in the industrialized world but it was the first of its kind in this university.
After the inaugural session, technical session was also held which was attended by scholars from various science departments and students of final year batch of chemistry, bio- chemistry and pharmacy.
The representatives of different industries, Prof Mohammad Iqbal Chaudhry, Ahsan Siddiqui, Dost Muhammad Hashimi, Ali Gul Rajpar, Ms Sabiha Naqvi, Mohammad Afzal, Ahsan Ali Shah, Sirajuddin and others presented their papers.
The session was followed by group discussion. Dr Tasneem Siddiqui offered vote of thanks.
STUDENTS MEETING: The vice chancellor of University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui has urged the university students to concentrate on their studies and take active part in sports and extra and co-curricular activities.
He was presiding over a meeting of the Sindh university students here the other day.
The meeting discussed 25-point agenda including holding of symposia.
The students were informed that a full fledged department of Bureau of Students and tutorial guidance and counselling services under the leadership of a senior dean had been setup for arranging different co-curricular activities for the students.
The meeting also discussed the availability of books in the Allama I.I. Kazi library and seminar libraries and informed the students that over 200,000 books were available in the main library while Rs2.5 million were spent on purchasing books last year and an equal amount was also allocated for the current year for this purpose.
