PESHAWAR: Dist price body to be formed for Ramazan

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Nov 13: The district price review committee, Peshawar, would be formed before Ramazan which would ensure supply of quality and low price goods to the people during the holy month.

This was decided in a meeting held in Peshawar with District Nazim, Peshawar, Azam Khan Afridi in the chair and attended by representatives of food department, consumers, shopkeepers and DCO Peshawar.

The meeting decided that active members should be included from the business community in the committee so that active vigilance could be carried out to check price spiral and quality of goods. It was decided that the committee will also keep an eye on the supply and sale of sub-standard food items and for this purpose the system of food checking would be ensured.

Speaking on the occasion, Azam Afridi warned that strict action would be taken against the people found violating the food laws and no recommendation would be accepted in this connection.

Meanwhile, the District Nazim attended a briefing at the office of SRSC, Peshawar, regarding the developmental activities. He was told that an amount of Rs10 million had been spent on human resource development and many other schemes would be started in various parts of the district shortly.
