KARACHI: Officials warned of strict action: Dereliction duty
KARACHI, Nov 13: The Sindh Cabinet on Tuesday decided to take a stern action against the government officials showing slackness and negligence to their duties and those who do not cooperate with the elected representatives and harass the people.
The decision was taken at a meeting held here at the New Sindh Secretariat under the chairmanship of Governor Muhammadmian Soomro.
Disciplinary action would be taken against the officials for such an attitude, irrespective of the positions they hold, the governor said, adding it would be improper to assume that these officials would only be transferred for their undue attitude.
“Such officials will not be transferred. They will be removed,” he warned. The governor also asked the ministers to ensure that these directives are fully implemented.
The cabinet also took notice of unjustified attitude of shop and labour inspectors with traders and industrialists.
The shop inspectors have been ordered not to carry out inspection of shops and in the case of industrial units, a joint inspection has been allowed. Under this procedure, the inspectors of different departments would conduct an inspection of the industrial units jointly, it was observed.
The cabinet decided that if an inspector is found inspecting in violation of the government orders, he would be taken into custody and tried under the law.
The governor issued directives for immediate implementation of the cabinet decisions. He said that cabinet decisions of immediate nature and importance be immediately communicated to the concerned people without waiting for the preparation of minutes along with their implementation.
He said steps be taken to ensure smooth supply and provision of essential commodities during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak and to check their hoarding as well as an increase in the prices.
In this regard, directives were also issued to the authorities concerned to work in cooperation with the City Government.
The governor directed the chief secretary that there should be a clear demarcation of reporting-line between government matters, the rules of business as well as what is to be done at what level.
The cabinet took stock of the wheat reserves and their availability in the province. The food secretary informed that wheat stocks were fully secure and were in good condition.
The governor issued directives for a mutual coordination between the agriculture and irrigation departments at all levels, along with provision of guidance to farmers in the field.
The governor also directed for taking an action against the persons involved in water theft and stressed for fair distribution of irrigation water. He said rotation system be implemented properly so that no complaint is received in this respect.
The cabinet also accorded approval to the enforcement of the Sindh Information Technology Board Ordinance 2001.
The cabinet also accorded approval to the setting up of an agro-export processing zone near New Sabzi Mandi to encourage the export of fruits, vegetables and flowers.
The meeting decided to allocate 50 acres of land for the purpose. The land would be allotted at the rate of Rs 200,000 per acre.—PPI/APP
