DADU, Nov 11: Twelve primary schools, which had been closed, were opened and handed over to a NGO, and twelve teachers have been appointed there.
The NGO, Village Shadabad Welfare Organization has expressed willingness to take over more closed schools in the district if the Education department allows it to do so.
The president of the NGO, Akbar Lashari told Dawn on Sunday when his organization conducted survey on education in the different parts of the district in September, it found scores of primary girls and boys schools closed due to shortage of teaching staff and other problems.
He said that his organization contacted education officers for the opening of the closed schools.
The Education department, with the consent of Nazim UC Tando Rahim Khan, handed over the possession of the buildings of 12 primary boys and girls closed schools of taluka Johi, which include the schools at the villages named as Jam Babar, Sher Mohammad Talpur, Shafi Mohammad Lund, Qasim Rodhnani, Shahak Rodhnani, Golo Faqir, Panah Rodhnani, Rasool Bux Jamali, Bahlail Jamali, Sarwar Nangar Dario and Dodo Barehmani.
LOOTED: Two armed men robbed a family of Rs5,000 cash and other valuables in village Serai Jan Mohammad Khero of taluka Dadu on Sunday.
The robbers barged into the house of Noor Ahmed Khero, held the inmates hostage in a room, looted Rs5000 cash, gold ornaments and other valuables and escaped.
The Rukan police, on the complaint of Mr Khero, registered FIR against the accused Muneer Khoso and Khadim Khoso and are investigating.
BODY FOUND: The Sehwan police found the body of an unidentified 60-year old man with torture marks at Sehwan railway station on Sunday and handed it over to Edhi volunteers for burial.
