PO dies in shootout with police

SHEIKHUPURA, Nov 11: A proclaimed offender was killed while two others escaped during an encounter with Narang police in Mehta Suja village, some 70km from here, on Sunday.

Reports reaching here revealed that three POs, including Mazahar alias Mujhu, took refuge in a dera owned by landlord Mian Ghazanfar Ali.

Led by an information, police reached the spot and besieged the dera. The culprits opened fire on the police which was retaliated. The encounter lasted for two hours, leaving Mazahar dead while his two accomplices fled.

Police have arrested the owner of the dera.

ARRESTED: CIA police arrested eight motorcycle lifters with dozens of vehicles and weapons in quantity.

This was disclosed by CIA DSP Qasim Khan Niazi in a briefing here on Sunday.

He said the gang had hijacked 16 motorcycles during the last six months in Lahore and Sheikhupura areas.

Police are making arrangements to hand over the vehicles to their owners.
