Dealers reject tehsil tax on pesticides

By Our Correspondent

VEHARI, Nov 11: Dealers and distributors have rejected the new tax imposed by the tehsil administration on pesticides.

According to details, Tehsil Naib Nazim Moeen Hayat Khakwani held a meeting on Sunday with pesticides dealers and distributors to persuade them to pay the new tax.

Terming the tax as unjustified the dealers opposed the levy and demanded its immediate withdrawal. The Naib Nazim alleged that all distributors were involved in the sale of fake and substandard pesticides. This led to exchange of hot words between Mr Khakwani and dealers who boycotted the meeting.

Later, a dealer told this correspondent that if the tax on pesticides was not withdrawn, they would launch a protest campaign against the tehsil administration. He also condemned the behaviour of Tehsil Naib Nazim.

Zahid Munir Bhatti, Muhammad Ejaz, Hafiz Mahmood Ahmed, Naeem Ashraf, Chaudhry Khadim Husain, Abdus Sattar Chaudhry, Farhatullah, Khawar Hinjra and Anjuman Tajran president Haji Taj Din attended the meeting.
