HYDERABAD, Nov 11: The central council of Pakistan NGOs Forum, at a meeting held here on Saturday, discussed in detail the impact of American attacks on Afghanistan on the people of Pakistan.

The representatives of the forum from Sindh, Balochistan, NWFP and Punjab attended the session.

The meeting was of the opinion that due to the influx of Afghan refugees, the economic and social problems in Pakistan would greatly increase and the activities of the organizations working for social development would be retarded.

It observed that the offices of different organizations had been attacked in Balochistan and NWFP and more attacks by religious groups could not be ruled out.

The forum demanded of the government to provide protection to the organisation engaged in social uplift activities.

The meeting also discussed the amendments in the existing laws concerning NGOs and demanded that before promulgation of any amendment, NGOs should be taken into confidence.

It condemned the cancellation of registration of 364 NGOs in NWFP and rejected the grounds on which these registrations were cancelled.

Those who attended the meeting included Ms Khawar Mumtaz and Irfan Mufti from Punjab, Gul Zaman from NWFP, Mohammad Siddique Khoso from Balochistan and Shakoor Abbasi and Ghaffar Malik from Sindh.
