PESHAWAR: PUTA election on 15th

PESHAWAR, Nov 11: Preparations are underway for the Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA) 2001-2002 election to be held on Nov 15 at the Teachers Community Centre, hall.

Nasser Ali Khan of the economic department is contesting as a joint candidate of the Friends and the Progressive group, and Dr Ikhtiar Khan of chemistry department is the candidate from Tanzeem-i-Asatheza. The coalition is being affiliated with Awami National Party and Pakistan People’s Party; Tanzeem-i-Asatheza is a group of teachers which is strongly affiliated with Jamaat-i-Islami.

The other panel members of the progressive group are Jahan Zeb Khan of psychology department for general secretary, Minhajul Hassan of history department for the post of vice-president, Imrana Seemin was elected VP un-opposed.

The panel members of the Tanzeem are Zulfiqar Ali of the department of geography for general-secretary and Dr Fazl-i-Qadir of statistic department for vice-president.—PPI
