PESHAWAR: Six held in tribal areas

PESHAWAR, Nov 11: The tribal administration of Jamrud, Khyber Agency has arrested six persons involved in heavy exchange of fire four days back, and demolished houses of three of them at Shakas area on Sunday.

On the night between Nov 7 and 8 heavy exchange of firing took place at Shakas, adjacent to settled area of Hayatabad Township between two rival groups of Syed Zahir Shah and Rahim Shah.

During the incident sophisticated weapons including rocket launchers and light cannons were used.

The persons arrested by the tribal administration on Saturday included: Noshad son of Jan Badshah Katia Khel; Amjad Hussain son of Jan Badshah Katia Khel; Bahadur son of Qutab Sher Khan Khel; Haji Yar Badshah son of Gul Badshah Katia Khel; Amir Khan son of Haji Zahir Shah Katia Khel; and, Rasool Khan son of Juma Khan Afghan refugee.

According to the administration, the khasadars of tribal administration encircled the houses of Zahir Shah, Noshad and Gul Ahmed Afghan Refugees situated at Shah Kass and demolished it. The authorities claimed that further action is in hand.

According to an official handout, on the night between Nov 7 and 8 at about 12 an information was received that the house of one Rahim son of Mubarak Shah Katia Khel Kuki Khel has been attacked with heavy weapons.

The firing totally stopped at 3.30am as the administration warned the parties on the loud speakers for stoppage of the firing.

The area being adjacent to Hayatabad, caused panic and alarm there. Various persons received injuries in that incident including Tahair son of Hikmat Shah Katia Khel, Imtiaz son of Hikmat Shah Katia Khel, Zaman son of the Nawab Shah Katia Khel, daughter of Rahim Shah Katia Khel, daughter of Khaista Shah Katia Khel, Rafiullah son of Noorul Haq Mohmand.

Rahim Katia Khel charged his rivals for the assault,

namely: Haji Zahir Shah son of Haji Khan Dad along with his sons; Noshad Son of Jan Badshah, Katia Khel, along with brother; Bahadur son of Qutab Shah Khan Khel along with brothers; Hukam Shah Afghan Refugee along with partymen.

The administration issued notices to both the parties, to surrender heavy weapons and the nominated accused persons to the administration: otherwise action will be taken against them.
