Tariq Aces take lead

ISLAMABAD, Nov 10: After comparing scores in the fifth round of the Alcatel Pakistan Open Bridge Championship, Tariq Aces lead the pack with a tally of 103 Victory Points.

They were followed by Skippers with 97 VPs and Air Power at 91 Vps.

Tariq Aces comprising Tariq Aziz, Javed Khalid, Shauq Hussain, Saeed Akhtar, Javed Chaudhry and Sarwar Khan, exploded into action in the first round with a 76-3 win over Alcatel. They were awarded 18 Victory Points for a bye in the next round and followed with a 20-10 and 22-8 win over Skippers and Four Aces respectively.

In the fifth round they set aside Cavaliers 18-12.

Skippers with Asif Ali, Air Cdr (Retd) Kiyani, Hafiz Mirza and Mohiuddin Jamili were the overnight leaders.

Air Power, a leading team on the Lahore circuit comprises Ihsan Qadir, Izzat Khalil, Noman, Ziaullah and Abdul Waheed.

With four rounds fixed for the final day, the 20-board round robin competition promises a close finish.
