Rs160m farm loans for Rabi crop

GUJRANWALA, Nov 10: The Punjab government has allocated Rs160 million agriculture loan to the Rabi crop and issued directives to the Agricultural Development Bank to advance loans to farmers on priority basis.

It is learnt here on Saturday that Rs4,000 per acre loan will be provided to farmers. The ADBP has started constituting mobile teams throughout the district for this purpose.

According to reports, loans will be distributed under one-window operation from the coming Monday. Tehsildars and other revenue officials have been directed to prepare and complete documents in one day and deliver loans to farmers at their doorsteps.

An agriculture officer said lists of farmers had been finalized and loans would be extended to them from the stipulated date.

SERVICE ROAD: Hurdles in widening of the GT Road and the construction of its service road will soon be removed.

This decision was taken at a meeting held here on Saturday with district Nazim Chaudhry Fiaz Ahmad Chattha in the chair.

The meeting stressed to identify impediments so that these could be discussed in the next meeting to ensure the construction work in accordance with the specification. It also resolved that all decisions would be taken in the best interest of the people.

The district coordinating officer and FWO officer briefed the meeting about the pace and progress of the project.

It is learnt the local chamber of commerce and industry and other quarters had expressed their concern over the slow pace of work a few days ago.

Senior army officer Brig Imtiaz Ahmad, DCO Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, GDA director-general Pervez Sultan, army support team member Col Waheed Bangish, FWO Col Muhammad Saeed and other senior officers attended the meeting.

BAILS REJECTED: A local court on Saturday rejected bail applications of three accused involved in a murder case.

Police later arrested all of them.
