KARACHI, Nov 9: Khuda Bukhsh slammed home twice to power Wapda into the semifinals after a 2-1 victory over PTCL in the President PFF Cup football tournament in Bahawalpur Friday.
According to information available here, in another quarterfinal KRL joined Wapda after edging past Pakistan Navy 1-0.
PTCL, having mostly young players, opened the scoring in the 6th minute when Saleem Butt headed home after excellent approach work by Shahid Ahmad and Adeel Iqbal.
PTCL could keep their lead intact for only seven minutes as Wapda’s Khuda Bukhsh cashed in on the slackness of PTCL goalkeeper Mahmood Elahi and defender Tahir Karamat.
National champions Wapda dominated the second half straight from the beginning. This time it was again Khuda Bukhsh who scored the 47th-minute winner off a rebound.
The first session of the encounter between KRL and Navy remained goalless, mainly due to sitters missed by both the sides.
KRL striker Sajjad Hussain wasted two opportunities, while Navy’s Mohammad Saleem Senior squandered a chance.
Sarfraz Rasool finally headed the match-winner off a cross from Sajjad in the 76th minute.
