PESHAWAR: ‘Strikes to tarnish country’s image’

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Nov 9: NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has said that agitation, strikes and demonstrations will serve nothing but tarnish the image of the country.

Speaking to Nazims and councillors of Dassu during his visit to the Kohistan district on Friday, he said: “This type of approach brings no benefit to anybody, but it would put negative impact on the economy and bring disorder in routine life.”

He reiterated that the government had sympathy with the helpless Afghans and endeavoured to mitigate their sufferings. The best way would be to arrange food, medicines and other relief goods for them, and not to stage demonstrations as it would be of no benefit to the Afghans, he added.

He said the support to international coalition had enhanced the country’s image abroad.
