PESHAWAR, Nov 9: Expressing concern over the political interference in the affairs of Pabbi Satellite Hospital, Nowshera district, the Pabbi action committee on Thursday asked the government to forthwith revoke the suspension order of the medical superintendent of the hospital.
Speaking at a press conference here at the Peshawar Press Club, office-bearers of the committee said that a local Nazim of a union council had been trying to establish his monopoly in the hospital and as he was not allowed by the MS to do so he used his influence to victimize him.
The office-bearers including Mohammad Ilyas Khan, Akhter Mohammad, Jamil Akhter, Sher Afzal, Malik Sahar Gul and others said that due to the pathetic conditions in the hospital the committee had launched a movement from the Peshawar Press Club as three successive medical superintendents had failed to deliver any good. After their long struggle, they claimed, the director general, health department, Habibullah Khan had appointed Dr Sabz Ali, who during his three-month period improved the hospital and also stopped the doctors from private practice during official hours.
The members of the committee, including political parties and traders associations, recalled that before his taking over charge of the hospital, the ultra sound and x-ray machines were out of order, whereas the connections of telephone and natural gas were disconnected due to non-payment. However, they claimed that he repaired the machines and restored connections of telephone and natural gas.
Moreover, in the past the concerned doctor used to receive fee in the labour room, but now the situation had changed altogether. They regretted that the corrupt elements in the hospitals in connivance with a local union Nazim pressurized the district administration to suspend the MS, which was illegal.
