LAHORE, Nov 9: Gangling speedster Waqas Ahmed snapped up a match bag of 13 for 106 as Wapda scent victory against Habib Bank in the Patron’s Trophy Grade-I match at Gaddafi Stadium Friday.
Wapda, set a moderate target of 110, closed the second day on three without loss in their second innings.
Habib Bank, who were shot out for 61 Friday with Waqas taking six for 22, were able to muster 234 in their second innings. Waqas once again devastated the bankers with a haul of seven for 84.
The only resistance came Habib Bank’s lower-order after the top five wickets had crashed for 39. Irfan Fazil (49, six fours), skipper Akram Raza (43, six fours), Shahid Nazir (unbeaten 37, three fours) and Kabir Khan (21) all gave respectability to the total. Shahid and Kabir, in fact, added 60 for the last wicket after Irfan and Akram had put on 65 for the eighth wicket.
Earlier, Wapda added 17 runs to their overnight 169 for eight. Their final tally of 186 gave them substantial lead of 125 on the first innings.
